* Bengaluru :  T. Suvarna Raju  has taken the charge of as the 17th chairman of the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), following his predecessor R.K. Tyagi’s retirement.
* Melbourne,Australia : Serena Williams has defeated Maria Sharapova  to win the Australian open ,her 19th grand slam title for the sixth time.
* The country’s longest range surface to surface intercontinental ballistic missile, Agni  V  has been successfully launched from wheeler Island in Balasore,Odisha. The missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)  is capable of delivering a 1.1 nuclear warhead over a distance of 5,000 km and the range of missile can cover most parts of China and Europe.
*Veteran Yakshagana artiste Arate Manjunatha has passed away due to prolonged illness.
* Karnataka : The 42-feet statue of Lord Bahubali  has been  anointed with milk, sugarcane juice, sandalwood paste, paste of medicinal herbs and holy water in 1008 kalashas.
*The Telangana government has decided not to go ahead with the proposed Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme  meant for  reimbursement of tuition fee for students of professional courses. It has  decided to  implement the old system on the basis of local status of students .
* Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Shekhar Rao has made his stand clear that  he would present ornaments worth Rs five crore to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala as the dream of separate Telangana has been  fulfilled.  He will also present Gold ornaments to the deity at Bhadrakali temple and Padmavathi at Tirumala.
* Fitoor, an adaptation of Charles Dickens ‘Great Expectations’ starring Rekha, Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur , is the first Bollywood movie being shot in Kashmir after last years devastating flood.
* Tenali : Under the guidance of Datta Peetham Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamy, 1,28,913 people gathered in Tenali of Guntur and chanted Hanuman Chalisa. The said feat has been entered into Guiness World record.
* Kochi : Malyalam actor Shine Tom Chako and four women were taken into custody for possessing Cocaine worth Rs 1 million in International market.
